3D Laser Mapping launch MineMapper
3D Laser Mapping have developed MineMapper, a mining version of their renowned StreetMapper system. Using the latest mobile laser-scanning technology, combined with high-precision positioning systems to capture highly accurate and detailed measurements on the move, MineMapper can record up to 40,000 measurements per second at a typical accuracy of 3-5cm.
Working with the company’s Site Monitor software, it can automatically create detailed 3D models of the mining operation, including highly accurate depletion surveys, slope-stability models, stockpile measurements and wide-terrain map updates.
MineMapper comprises a series of vehicle-mounted laser-scanning units, together with an on-board positioning system that uses satellite technology and an INS navigation system. Through the use of multiple scanners, the system can provide a wide field of view, maximizing the data-capture operation and minimizing disruption to the mining operation and health and safety risk to personnel.
MineMapper is easy to use and can be mounted on any type of vehicle, such as off-road, quad bike and boat.
‘MineMapper is an obvious addition to our existing, well-respected range of solutions for the mining industry,’ said 3D Laser Mapping managing director Dr Graham Hunter. ‘By combining proven mobile technology with software specifically developed for mining, we can help improve safety, increase production and provide a range of operational advantages.’
