Regional Maintenance Manager
In line with the increased operational and commercial successes across the Southwest of England, Chepstow Plant International require a dedicated Regional Maintenance Manager to minimise asset downtime and drive repair, servicing and compliance standards. The position will work closely alongside the Head of Field Service and the Warranty and Technical managers at Head Office to liaise with OEM’s, suppliers and customers to produce a timely conclusion to each task at minimal cost.
The position will naturally have an overlap with the customer-facing Regional Manager position in the region, but the key focus is primarily on the safe protection of the company’s assets and monitoring major component health and contribute to overall asset lifecycle management. Other principal areas of focus include asset compliance and overseeing the region’s Field Service Engineer (FSE’s) team. Operational activities, resourcing or engaging with key customer stakeholder (unless asset related) is not included within this remit, unless covering for annual leave or similar short-term periods.
This position will be the day-to-day manager and point of contact for the regional FSE’s and will be expected to coach and develop them, improving theirs and the company’s overall performance. The position will be expected to manage and develop safe working controls involved whilst interdependently supporting the safety of all personnel in the service support of equipment. The position will report directly into the Head of Assets & Commercial.
Job Skills
In-depth knowledge of assets, their operations, mechanical, electrical & technical components.
Strong diagnostic knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, making frequent decisions that impact upon operational performance and asset condition.
Consistent, attentive and proactive approach to safety, in line with the company’s core ethos, safety principles and culture.
Good man-management and excellent communication skills with all stakeholders
IT proficient – competent in Excel and ability to use asset database.
Job Roles / Duties
Oversee all maintenance activities across the region, including breakdowns, servicing, preventative maintenance and defects.
Manage and develop safe working controls involved whilst interdependently support the safety all personnel involved in the service support of equipment.
Ensure that safe planning is in place for repairs, especially when major tasks are undertaken. This would include the use of compliant and certified support equipment.
Responsible for the day-to-day FSE resource deployment, with a key focus and prioritisation around the up time of high dependency assets so to optimise the business’ fleet utilisation and reaffirm its continuous commitment to service.
Liaise with local and regional suppliers and OEM’s to ensure swift close out of any jobs, in particular breakdowns to ensure minimal impact on operations.
Ensure all assets under control are fully compliant, including areas such as brake testing, LOLER’s, 6 weekly inspections and MOT’s.
Short-Term support, when required, for Operational Management activities across the region.
Drive the safety culture within FSE’s for increased performance and standards.
Engage in cost-control and performance-improving initiatives across the region.
Supervise and actively monitor all wear component (Tyres, GET, UC etc) performance across the region to minimise cost and improve RoI.
Support the development and efficient performance of the welding and fabrication team, alongside the FSE team.
Manage and share performance metrics for both the FSE and W&F Teams with agreed formatting and set timelines. This will aid the support the mindsets for both quality of work and time efficiencies.
