Fortis is a leading Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) Processor and also a leader in the quest for a zero-waste economy.

A vacancy currently exists for an experienced Quality and Technical Manager to assume full responsibility for Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) and IBA Aggregate product quality

Responsibilities:

  • Manage our product assurance processes, including the organisation of sampling, control of product data and maintenance of product documentation.

  • Assume overall responsibility for the control and compliance of unprocessed IBA and all IBA Aggregate products within the Quality Management System.

  • Manage, co-ordinate and monitor Aggregates, IBA & IBAA sampling and reporting.

  • Manage WM3 requirements.

  • Analysis and report product trends, investigation of product non-conformance and implementation of corrective action.

  • Where required, collate and provide relevant ESG data to the group ESG lead.

  • Provide management and support to Fortis Quality Technicians and Technical Administrator.

  • Chair and report at monthly Technical & Quality meetings.

  • Ensure that quality standards, and specifications are reviewed, maintained and developed.

  • Monitor quality performance, analysing data and producing statistical reports to agreed frequencies and timescales.

  • Work closely with and provide continuous support across all business functions including HSQE, Commercial and operations.

  • Support the appropriate company departments in managing and maintaining ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations.

  • Assist and support the Site Managers in maintaining, developing, and updating the operational sites QMS and EMS manuals.

  • Always ensure compliance with the Statutory and Company Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Coordination of product development activities through liaison with consultants, laboratories and internal functions.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience and knowledge of the technical aspects of unbound and bound aggregates, including understanding of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works and EN standards for aggregate specifications and aggregate testing methods.

  • Knowledge of management systems, such as ISO 9001.

  • Competent in the use of quality analysis methodologies, including root cause analysis.

  • Proficient IT skills.

  • Full UK driving licence.
