Executive Sales Director

Mar 04 2025 - 11:59am

Are you an experienced senior level Sales professional with a proven track record in securing high value contracts and tenders, and looking for a new challenge?

A Group based in the South East incorporates a number of associated companies covering sectors including recycling, quarries, aggregates and haulage. Its well established, successful business model is based upon acting responsibly, delivering quality and building long-term relationships.

The company is currently involved with several major development projects, with sites which are being land raised and engineered to enable house building. All sites are permitted by the Environment Agency.

The company is looking to appoint an Executive Sales Director to lead the strategic direction of the Group's sales / commercial function as it undergoes a period of growth.

About the role:

You will be responsible for developing robust sales strategies, and guiding the sales team to deliver significant new business opportunities, particularly with infrastructure projects and major construction firms. You will work with other members of the senior management team to ensure that the business remains competitive, profitable, and positioned for sustainable growth.

Key areas of accountability will include:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning;
  • Business Development and Key Account Management;
  • Team Leadership and Performance Management;
  • Financial and Commercial Management;
  • Market Development and Brand Positioning; and
  • Compliance and Risk Management.

This is a full-time, permanent role, based at the head office, so you will need to be able to commute to this location on a daily basis. You will also visit customers and other stakeholders as required.

On offer is a highly competitive salary and a range of benefits, including 25 days’ holiday entitlement (plus Bank Holidays), company car / car allowance, pension and Group Life Assurance scheme.

About you:

You will be an experienced business-to-business senior level sales professional, ideally with experience from the sectors in which the Group operates (recycling, quarries, aggregates and haulage), and hold a strategic mindset.

Solid evidence of your commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development in your career as a senior sales leader would be beneficial.

A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Sales or Marketing, and membership of a relevant professional body, would be beneficial but is not essential.

With the ability to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, you will hold an awareness of corporate functions, a strong business development background, and strong report writing and data analysis skills.

You will have experience of demonstrating adaptability and hands-on problem solving. You will also hold a knowledge of the relevant regulatory requirements.

You will need to hold a full driving licence.
