A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Longcliffe Group for an experienced professional within the quarrying / minerals / planning sector to join our successful and growing business.

Longcliffe was established in 1927 and is one of the very few independent hard rock quarries left in England, and one of the largest which is still family owned. We employ over 190 people, some of whose forebears also worked for the company, and we're proud of the fact that many others have been with us for more than 25 years.

Position Summary

  • Oversee all maintenance activities to ensure they are undertaken safely, efficiently, and at least cost and disruption to the business.

  • Create, regularly update, and follow a maintenance strategy, in line with the objectives of the business.

  • Formulate clear training and development plans for all engineering staff to ensure all existing competency gaps are addressed.

  • Manage all spending budgets in line with agreed and budgeted levels of expenditure

  • Manage continuous improvement of the Engineering function by the creation and maintenance of kpi’s and report on progress of these monthly.

Duties will include:

  • Leadership and management of the engineering team.

  • Responsibility for the safe and efficient maintenance of fixed and mobile plant.

  • Control of maintenance costs within budget constraints.

  • Driving continuous improvements in all aspects of the job.

  • Ensuring all assets remain fully compliant.

  • Reviewing, updating and following a maintenance strategy.

  • Coaching and developing all members of the maintenance team.
