Jubilee visit

Her Majesty The Queen recently visited the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire as part of her extensive Jubilee tour. Established on 150 acres of land near Alrewas –– site of a former sand and gravel quarry operated and restored by Lafarge Aggregates –– the Arboretum is Britain’s biggest memorial to those who have served their country in the armed conflicts of the 20th century. Among the senior figures who met The Queen during her visit was Bradley Mulroney, director-northern for Lafarge Aggregates. He said: ‘The Arboretum shows that not only can quarries be carefully restored to become wildlife havens, they can also be turned into sites which are of national historical significance.’
