GMB UK invest in Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck
Recycling firm looks forward to year-round production thanks to new mobile plant
A BUSY recycling company is planning to beat the freeze this winter after investing in a new Terex Finlay machine. Soil production at GBM UK had been halted for several months as old screening machinery struggled to cope with wet material.
But the delivery of a Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck, supplied by Finlay Plant Northern, is helping the company to establish all-year-round operation for the first time. The mobile plant proved its value during a trial last year and is now processing soil, sand, brick and concrete at GMB UK’s Doncaster site, in Yorkshire.
‘We were extremely impressed with how the plant performed during the trial, so we decided to go for it,’ said Paul White, area sales manager for GMB UK. ‘Soil production accounts for 75% of saleable products from our Doncaster site, but we’ve previously been forced to stop production between November and February because our machines kept clogging up with wet material.
‘The Terex Finlay 883+ Spaleck copes well with the soil, even in wet weather, and that means we’ll be able to screen constantly throughout the year with increased throughput as well. This is the first machine we’ve had from Finlay Plant Northern and we’re really impressed with the product and service.’
The mobile plant has a processing range from 1mm to 120mm and is said to have almost blockage-free screening. It produces a range of materials, including oversize, 10–75mm and sand products.
At the heart of the 883+ Spaleck is a high-performance, two-deck screen box. The top deck of the screen has been specified with uniquely designed rubber mats, while the bottom deck features Flip-Flow technology.
