Asphalt conference

THE Asphalt Industry Alliance's 2001 conference, entitled 'Highways - Needs and solutions in the next decade', will be held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 4 April. The one-day event will draw together speakers from the asphalt industry, road users, business, government agencies and local government.

The conference will address business needs; public transport road needs; what the private road user expects; environmental aspects of roads in the future; implementation of the Government's 10-year plan for roads and the impact of the plan on local roads; and how the industry is providing solutions by using recent developments in materials, techniques and contract procedures for road construction and maintenance.

In addition, the key findings of the 2001 Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) Survey will be presented at the conference.
