Aggregate Industries announce European joint venture

AGGREGATE Industries have entered into a new joint-venture partnership with Dansk Natursten, one of the leading importers of hard rock in Denmark. The company has also announced a number of new acquisitions demonstrating its commitment to continued growth and development within the business.

Aggregates Industries have purchased a 51% majority stake in Lytag Group, sole UK suppliers of Lytag, a lightweight aggregate product; and acquired the remaining15% of shares in Ash Solutions, the fly-ash business which the company now wholly owns.

In line with their commitment to sustainable transportation, AI have also expanded the operations of their aggregate transport business Alan C Bennett & Sons, who provide barge transport throughout the Thames Gateway development area.

‘The UK construction industry continues to decline but Aggregate Industries are keen to push forward,’ said chief executive Bill Bolsover. ‘Our joint venture with Dansk Natursten provides a substantial growth opportunity within the Danish market, which has almost no indigenous hard rock reserves.

‘Our recent acquisitions strengthen our overall materials position as clients continue to look for sustainable solutions. As modern construction continues to evolve, fly-ash and Lytag are increasingly being used and specified for a range of products and projects. The efficient movement of goods within London and the wider area is also vital to the economy with sustainable transport becoming a key focus.’
