A vacancy has arisen at Hargreaves for a working Site Supervisor to join our team at our soil wash & material recovery plant at Port Salford.  

The working Site Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient deployment and supervision of the driver operators’ team, to ensure work instructions are suitable for the work to be carried out and that individuals understand the works to be carried out under the instructions and associated Risk Assessment and Method Statement.  To liaise with the client as necessary with respect to ensuring the plant and equipment operates safely and efficiently and to liaise daily with the operators and external staff as and when required.  

Hargreaves have been awarded the contract at Port Salford to carry out operations and minor maintenance of a soil wash and material recovery plant.  

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:-

• Safe deployment of up to 4 driver operators with machines and operating a fixed plant to deliver soil washing for recovery into the aggregates industry 
• Loading the plant with soil, loading and unloading of external lorries 
• Operating the plant and carrying out minor maintenance activities 
• Supervision and deployment of the team 
• Liaising with the HIS Client Representative 
• Organizing daily work schedules 
• Responsible for overseeing the effective plant operations 
• Capable of problem solving and carrying out minor maintenances and preventative maintenance activities 
• Ensuring the plant and equipment is being operated and maintained in accordance with site operational and maintenance procedures 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/attributes:-

• Experience of supervising and managing people 
• Mechanical knowledge and experience 
• Knowledge of screen and washing plants 
• CPCS safety passport or equivalent 
• Site safety induction training 
• Adhere to Permit to work procedures 
• Comply and understand all site golden rules, safety instructions and procedures 
• Undertake all mandatory safety e-learning as required 
• Undertake site specific training as required 
• Flexible approach to work

Key competencies:

• Positive attitude to safety 
• Manual handling 
• Health and safety knowledge with a minimum of CSCS with ability to develop to a minimum of IOSH managing safely 
• Ability to safely lead a team
• Hargreaves safety induction training
