Leiths (Scotland) Ltd is a family owned group of companies primarily engaged in quarry operations supported by a civil engineering and surfacing division. The group is one of the largest independent companies operating in the sector within Scotland.
We currently have a vacancy for a Geologist at our Head Office in Aberdeen.
Reporting to the Planning & Development Manager you will be required to support our existing quarrying operations and new development opportunities within Scotland.
The role will involve:
- Managing the geological requirements of our existing sand & gravel and hard rock quarries including the provision of resource assessments, geotechnical support under the Quarries Regulations 1999 and supporting our site management teams.
- Undertaking desktop and field-based assessments for future quarry sites.
- Quarry development design & planning for existing operations and future development opportunities.
- Assisting with regulatory management and development of quarrying operations including planning applications, environmental consenting and licencing.
You’ll be an experienced geologist with a well-developed knowledge of aggregate quarrying, a sound appreciation of H&S risk assessment and management and good communication skills. You’ll also have a good working knowledge of LSS, CAD or similar design and modelling software.
We’re looking for a person who has, as a minimum, an undergraduate degree in geology or a similar earth science who is either a chartered geologist or is working towards full chartership.
A driving licence will be required as the role will involve travel throughout Scotland.
